AnimeJapan is one of the biggest annual anime conventions, held at Tokyo Big Sight in Odaiba. Thousands of fans attend to see major companies like Toei Animation, Aniplex, and Bandai Visual showcase upcoming projects. Large booths feature live shows, creator appearances, and interviews, while the exhibit hall is packed with displays, freebies, and impressive setups. Outside, cosplayers gather for photos and fan meetups, making it a must-see event for anime lovers.
NOTE1: due to heavy crowds, we’ll be taking public transportation to the venue.
NOTE2: To enter in cosplay, an additional cosplay participant fee is required. This fee is not included in the tour. For further details, please contact us separately.
Ghibli Museum / Shibuya - Shibuya Scramble Crossing - Shibuya Parco - Nintendo Tokyo - Pokémon Center Shibuya / Akihabara
Today’s tour begins at the Ghibli Museum, where you can explore exhibits on Studio Ghibli’s animation process, see Hayao Miyazaki’s work desk and sketches, and watch an exclusive short film. The whimsical setting makes you feel as if you’ve stepped into a Ghibli movie.
From there, we head to Shibuya to experience the famous Scramble Crossing and visit Cyberspace Shibuya in Parco, home to the Nintendo Tokyo Store and Pokémon Center. The tour then continues to Akihabara, the world’s anime and gaming hub, packed with specialty shops, arcades, and themed cafés. You’ll also find Kanda Myojin Shrine, where people bless their electronics. After the tour, you may stay in Akihabara to explore more before returning to your hotel on your own.
Tsukiji Outer Market / Drive by Imperial Palace / Sushi Making Experience / Ueno Park / Asakusa Sensoji Temple / Tokyo Skytree
Today’s itinerary begins at Tsukiji Outer Market, a lively street market famous for its fresh seafood, produce, and kitchenware. From there, we drive past the Imperial Palace, where you can admire the beautiful front gardens, moat, and historic stone walls.
Next, enjoy a hands-on sushi-making experience—create your own sushi and then taste it afterwards!.
The tour continues to Ueno Park, home to over 1,000 cherry trees that line its main pathways, making it one of Tokyo’s best cherry blossom viewing spots. Afterwards, we visit Asakusa’s Sensoji Temple, Tokyo’s oldest temple, where the iconic Kaminarimon Gate with its giant red lantern welcomes visitors. The approach to the temple, Nakamise Street, is filled with shops offering traditional snacks and souvenirs. Finally, we end the day at Tokyo Skytree, ascending to the Tembo Deck for a breathtaking 360-degree view of the city’s skyline.
NOTE: For Sushi Making Experience, if you are vegetarian, on gluten-free diets, have seafood allergy, or don't eat raw fish, please contact us for other ingredient options.
Mt Fuji, Hakone (Hakone Ropeway / Owakudani)
We will depart from Tokyo to Mt. Fuji on our private coach. Along the way, enjoy the changing scenery, from thick vegetation to lowlands and rolling clouds. Stop at Mt. Fuji 5th station (depending on weather conditions) to admire the world famous peak.
Next, travel to Hakone, one of Japan's most popular hot-spring resorts. You will also get to view the forested slopes of Hakone National Park. We will take a 20 minute ropeway ride from Togendai to Owakudani. Most of Owakudani is considered an active volcanic zone since its creation from the eruption of Mount Hakone some 3,000 years ago. Visitors will encounter the area's hot springs and bubbling pools, complete with sulfurous fumes and steam vents. If the weather conditions are in our favor, Owakudani also grants splendid views of Mount Fuji.
Then, experience a Shinkansen bullet train ride, which can reach speeds of up to 300 km/hr.
We will stay at the Onsen Hotel at Hamanako Kanzaiji Onsen, where you can soak in the therapeutic waters of a spa bath and feast on dinner in the comfort of your hotel.
Hikone (Hikone Castle - Genkyuen Garden)
After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, we will visit Hikone Castle, a popular spot for cherry blossom viewing in spring. Hikone Castle is one of Japan’s few original castles, having survived the post-feudal era without destruction or reconstruction. It offers one of the best-preserved examples of a complete feudal castle and is designated a National Treasure—an honor shared by only four other castle keeps in Japan. Visitors can climb to the top floor to take in sweeping views of the castle grounds and the city beyond.
Next, we will explore the neighboring Genkyuen Garden, a tranquil Japanese landscape garden designed to frame the castle beautifully.
Koka (Miho Museum)
From there, we continue to the Miho Museum, renowned for its striking architecture that blends seamlessly with the surrounding nature. The museum houses collections from ancient civilizations, including Roman, Egyptian, and Asian cultures. A highlight is the tunnel designed by I. M. Pei, leading to a road lined with hundreds of cherry trees, a feature that has earned the museum a place on the list of “1000 Places to See Before You Die.”
NOTE: If Miho Museum is close, we will visit Kyoto National Museum or Sagawa Art Museum instead.
Arashiyama - Sagano Bamboo Forest / Golden Pavilion / Green Tea Ceremony with Maiko Interaction / Kiyomizu Temple / Maruyama Park / Gion Geisha District
We begin our exploration of Kyoto, the heart of Japan’s traditional culture. Our first stop is the Arashiyama district, where we stroll through the Sagano Bamboo Forest. The towering bamboo stalks, densely clustered together, create an enchanting, almost otherworldly atmosphere as you follow the winding path. Next, we visit Kinkakuji Temple, also known as the Golden Pavilion, one of Kyoto’s most iconic landmarks. Its golden walls shimmer in the sunlight, beautifully reflected in the Mirror Pond below—look closely and you’ll spot the elegant phoenix perched atop the roof. We then take part in a traditional Green Tea Ceremony, an exquisite ritual of hospitality once reserved for the elite, made even more memorable when hosted by a graceful Maiko, an apprentice Geisha.
Continues at Kiyomizu Temple, or the Temple of Pure Water, a UNESCO World Heritage Site celebrated for its striking three-story pagoda, expansive wooden stage with panoramic views, and the sacred streams flowing from beneath the main hall. Afterwards, we head to Maruyama Park, one of Kyoto’s most beloved cherry blossom viewing spots, home to the famous Shidarezakura, or “weeping cherry tree.” We conclude the day in the historic Gion district, where stone-paved streets are lined with exclusive teahouses. Here, visitors may be lucky enough to glimpse a Geisha or Maiko making their way between engagements, adding a touch of timeless elegance to the evening.
Kyoto (Fushimi Inari Shrine)
Today, we journey to Fushimi Inari Shrine, the head shrine of the thousands across Japan dedicated to Inari, the Shinto deity of prosperity, rice, and foxes. The shrine is most famous for its thousands of vivid vermilion torii gates, which create winding pathways through the sacred forest of Mount Inari.
Nara (Todaiji Temple / Deer Park)
From there, we travel to the historic city of Nara to visit Todaiji Temple, one of Japan’s most renowned landmarks and home to the Great Buddha of Nara—a monumental seated statue of Rushana-butsu, the “Cosmic Buddha.” Just outside the temple lies Nara Deer Park, where you can encounter the friendly, free-roaming deer. These charming animals are used to people and are known to bow politely when offered special deer crackers, available for purchase around the park.
Osaka (Dotonbori - Shinsaibashi)
Next, we continue to Osaka to explore the lively, neon-lit district of Dotonbori, the epicenter of Osaka’s famous food culture. Known as the city of kuidaore, meaning “to eat until you drop,” Osaka offers countless dining spots here, set beneath towering billboards, including the iconic Glico “Running Man.” We conclude the day in Shinsaibashi, Osaka’s largest shopping district. Established during the Edo period, this historic area now features everything from modern fashion boutiques, jewelers, and international retailers to traditional kimono tailors, blending old and new in one bustling destination.
NOTE1 : If you wish to stay in the center of Osaka for the last night instead of Hotel Nikko Kansai Airport, we can arrange for you to stay at Hotel Elsereine Osaka (or similar class).
